PAT NEWS: Passing the First 500th Female

(Scroll down for English)

The PAT clinic continues to go from strength the strength as the team get up to speed on minimally invasive techniques and new suture materials which limit the chance of complications. Today they passed another major milestone by sterilising the 500th female.

There are reasons to de sex males but in terms of population control the females are the key. They are not as quick and easy but every one counts in reducing the birth of unwanted puppies and kittens on the streets. Each female is responsible for producing around 100 offspring in her lifetime which means that around 50,000 animals have been spared.

Given the conflict that these unwanted animals cause for humans as well as the wildlife population this is a very significant achievement for the team in a very short time. It is also remarkable that we have been able to provide this service free of charge.

A small and incredibly devoted group of locals have been vital in our efforts by catching and delivering the animals to the clinic. We have a truck that has been put to great use in collecting and returning animals thanks to the selfless efforts of Will our volunteer driver. We need additional volunteers and drivers to maintain the momentum that has been created and if you have animals in your area that you can catch please get in touch and book them in.

We would love to get a darting team in place to help with problem dogs but at the moment we do not have the funding for this. If this is something you can help with then please get in touch. You can be assured that all donations are put to good and proper use and help us continue to make a real difference to the street cats and dogs in the area.

YOU CAN SUPPORT OUR WORK BY DONATING TO www.wfft.org/donate MENTIONING “PAT”. Every 8 Dollars sees another stray dog or cat neutered! Will you help us to continue?
