PAT Expands Sterilisation Project into Huay Sai Nue

People & Animals Thailand (PAT) is expanding its sterilisation, vaccination, and animal welfare work into Huay Sai Nue, a rural area outside Cha-am, Phetchaburi, where the need for intervention is urgent. The expansion aims to reduce the number of unwanted puppies born into hardship, improve dog welfare, and support peaceful co-existence between people and animals.

Reaching New Communities

PAT’s model focuses on achieving 80–90% sterilisation and vaccination coverage in each target area before moving into a new location, while continuing to maintain this coverage in existing project sites.

Huay Sai Nue was identified as a priority. Our initial survey revealed that six of the seven villages in the area have less than 25% sterilisation coverage. This means large numbers of unsterilised dogs, high breeding rates, and many puppies being born into short and very difficult lives. Dogs are forced to compete for scarce resources, and few receive even basic veterinary attention. Without intervention, this cycle of suffering will only continue.

Compared with towns and cities, dogs in rural communities often face even more challenges, including limited or no access to veterinary care, greater difficulty finding reliable food and clean water, and less awareness around the benefits of sterilisation and vaccination.

How You Can Help

This important expansion is only possible with the help of supporters. Donations directly fund sterilisation, vaccination, and essential veterinary care for dogs in need.
